Mearl Baker
Owner/Optician
Mearl Baker started in the optical business in 1960 at the age of 18 with Benson Optical in Billings, MT. There he learned the ins and outs of surfacing, grinding, and manufacturing of lenses. In April 1964 he was hired by Dr.Lensink, founder of Medical Eye Specialists, to be his head optician for his ophthalmology practice here in Bozeman. In January 1967, Mearl bought the optical side of Dr. Lensinks practice and Baker Opticians was born! Mearl Baker and Baker Opticians are celebrating 52 years this year. Mearl taught his daughter, Kelli from the age of 11 to be an Optician and has taught many others over the years.
Mearl is a Montana native, spending most of his youth in Wolf Point and Eastern Montana. He currently lives in Livingston, MT with his wife Jeanie who is also an Optician. Mearl is semi-retired and is by appointment only.
Kelli Anderson
Managing Optician
Kelli has been training under and working with her father, Mearl Baker for the past 34 years. She started learning from him at 11 years old and continued working for the family business after school and over the summers, until her graduation from high school. She has grown up in this business and has seen so many exciting changes in lens technology over the years and has also seen frame trends come and go and even recycle themselves. Her favorite part of the business is the relationship that is developed with their patients over the years and the benefit her experience has in helping patients choose the best eyewear for their needs. She enjoys providing eyewear for every member of the family!
Outside of work, Kelli is married and the mom of a very busy 14 years old who is the light of her life. They are a baseball family spring and summer, skiing and basketball in the winter and love to paddle board, kayak, golf and get outside. Kelli was born here in Bozeman, her son and husband are also Montana native. Their roots go deep. Kelli looks forward to meeting new patients and continuing to see our regulars!
Andy Squires
Certified Optician
Andy and his wife Olivia moved to Montana from the Seattle area over 10 years ago. He's been in the optical business going on 15 years now. He has a knack for getting to know his patients and finding the best overall solution to their needs. Outside of opticianry, Andy enjoys skiing, biking, walking his dog and just being in the great outdoors.
